Background
The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) is now accepting comments on harmful new methane gas infrastructure in our communities.
We Energies’ parent company, WEC Energy Group, is planning a methane gas buildout that totals 3,000 megawatts, including constructing 1,300 MW of expensive new power plants and converting nearly 2,000 MW of existing coal to gas.
We Energies is proposing two plants in our communities:
We Energies is proposing two plants in our communities:
Paris Gas Plant (Kenosha County): A 130 MW reciprocating internal combustion engine (RICE) facility located near the existing Paris Generating Station with an anticipated commercial operation date by summer 2026.
Oak Creek Gas Plant (Milwaukee County): 1,100 MW at the Oak Creek Power Plant campus with anticipated commercial operation dates for the units occurring from fall 2027 through June 2028. We Energies’ plans also include building new infrastructure like a 30-mile pipeline and a Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) storage facility to service the proposed Oak Creek gas plant.
It’s time to take action. Tell the PSC to reject We Energies’ plans.
