Wisconsin Power and Light Rate Case (Docket #: 6680-UR-125)

Two years ago, WPL received approval to raise electricity rates by 12% and gas rates by 9.86%. Now, they’re back at the PSCasking for new rate increases of 13.9% for electricity and 10.6% for gas over the next two years.

Xcel Energy Rate Case

Xcel Energy is asking for approval of electric and gas rate increases over the next two years – a 19% increase on electricity and a 14.2% increase for natural gas. Xcel is also asking regulators to raise its profit rate, or return on equity, from 9.8% to 10%.

MGE Rate Case (Docket #: 3270-UR-126)

MGE is requesting a rate increase of 9.4%for electric customers and 4.5% for natural gas customers over the next two years. The company is also seeking to raise its profit rate from 9.7% to 10.0% – even though the utility reported 2024 profit of $120 million, more than twice the size of the 2026-27 rate increases sought.
